These guitar arrangements have been created over many years using Chinese melodies from various sources. Some of these melodies are quite old while a few are more modern. The sources of the melodies were gathered mostly from many old books that contain notated versions of ancient tunes and folk tunes.
The arrangements for solo guitar are presented in PDF format
The history of Chinese music stretches far back in time and it was a fascinating project to research these melodies, some of which reflect a view of life and the universe related to the Chinese philosophies such as Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism, while other melodies are simple folk tunes. I gathered what I consider the most interesting melodies I could find.
A serious study of the amazing music history of China requires much time and I am not an expert scholar in the subject, but I have managed to discover some interesting melodies!
You can listen to MP3 samples of a few pieces...
(Note) The very short simple piece listed below entitled “Heaven & Earth” was arranged using the fabled ancient Chinese “phoenix notes”, used to musically symbolize male-female, yin-yang, heaven-earth etc.
