In Munster, Ireland, in the 18th Century there was a movement of poetry, songs and music that created beautiful and often magical results. In many ways, the history of that time period reminds me a bit of what I saw during what became known as the "singer-songwriter" movement in Greenwich Village, New York in the 1950s and 60s that produced artists like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Tom Paxton, Eric Andersen, and Patrick Sky etc. Pat Sky actually went on after that time to become quite an expert in Irish music.

We found an old book that contained transcriptions of many of the old Munster melodies and songs and we picked out 11 of our favorite tunes to prepare our own arrangements. The arrangements are prepared with guitar chords and a basic harp (or keyboard) accompaniment. These basic arrangements can easily be used to prepare your own versions of the pieces.

We have also included 11 short MP3 versions of each piece arranged for various instruments for those who learn by ear, or just want to hear the tunes.
